IPCSA Sustainability Guidelines (Download)
Port Community Systems (PCSs) are emerging as key enablers of sustainable, efficient, and transparent maritime logistics. As digital integration hubs connecting all port stakeholders, PCSs can drive decarbonization, compliance, and innovation across global supply chains. This document offers practical guidance for embedding sustainability into PCS strategies and services, drawing on the IPCSA Sustainability Survey 2025, ISO 14083, the GLEC Framework, and best practices from leading PCS implementations.
With global trends such as decarbonization, electrification, and just-in-time operations reshaping logistics—and new legislation like CSRD, CBAM, and FuelEU Maritime demanding accurate emissions data—PCSs are ideally positioned to serve as trusted intermediaries for standardized reporting. Examples from Portbase, DAKOSY, SOGET, and HAROPA PORT show how digital tools can turn policy into measurable results. The IPCSA Sustainability Survey highlights growing engagement, with most PCS operators reducing emissions and advancing collaboration. To accelerate progress, the report recommends adopting formal sustainability strategies, aligning with ESG and ISO 14083, and expanding data-driven services to strengthen the sector’s collective impact on decarbonization.
