Seasons Greetings from IPCSA

21 December 2017

IPCSA wishes Seasons Greetings to all our members, partners, regional and international organisations that have help make 2017 an even more successful year for IPCSA than 2016. This momentum is due to the hard work and commitment of our members who play a key role in representing the Electronic Exchange of Information.

During 2017 IPCSA received UNECOSOC status, and have participated, supported and presented in meetings and conferences in each one of the IPCSA five regions around the globe.

We have welcomed new members Kale Logistics India; Port of Trieste, Italy and Portall, India to our ranks. Bringing our membership to 34 operating in 31 countries covering over 100 seaports and airports which handle in excess of 350m TEU's and 7 billion tonnes of cargo. This is the equivalent to at least 20 billion electronic messages exchanged annually.

IPCSA also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with LOGINK China as part of the “One Belt One Road Initiative”, and started a working relationship with NEAL-NET (North East Asian Logistics Information Service Network). The IPCSA Annual Conference “Globally Connected Logistics” brought together experts from both trade and government bodies from around the world to provide practical solutions to exchange information along the whole supply chain.

Members have also participated in numerous international standards meetings and workshops including ISO, WCO, UN/CEFACT and IMO supporting and advising on how these development scan help facilitate trade.

As IPCSA we were also proud to announce that Javier Gallardo of PORTIC, Barcelona and Uwe Liebschner of dbh Logistics IT AG, Bremen were the first to receive a recognition in honour of Piet Jan. The recognition is in honour of Piet Jan ten Thije, a vice-chairman of IPCSA, and who was taken before his time in 2014 leaving behind a wife and family. IPCSA wanted to recognise Piet Jan’s passion, energy and enthusiasm for ports, logistics and Community Systems and to honour his commitment to IPCSA.

2018 looks to be an even busier year with the new proposal for an EU Maritime Single Window emerging within the European Union, further development of how countries will implement the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement, and exciting opportunities to exchange information globally and particularly in the Asia Pacific region. In addition new technologies such as Blockchain are emerging and IPCSA is playing it’s role in how it can support simplifying trade across borders

On behalf of IPCSA Hans Rook, the IPCSA Chairman, Javier Gallardo, the IPCSA Vice- Chairman and Richard Morton the IPCSA Secretary General would like to thank our entire community for their continued support and we look forward to seeing you all in 2018 which is already promising to provide new challenges and opportunities for community systems and the electronic exchange of information across the globe.
